The turret head reloading press has a higher reloading speed compared to single station presses, but the simplicity of operation and setup is maintained. Your attention is always focused on one specific operation, as opposed to three or more operations like with progressive presses. You can pause the operation at any time and check what is happening.

LEE Classic Turret vs. LEE Ultimate Turret Press

The LEE Classic Turret Press has been the gold standard among practical reloading presses for a generation. The new LEE Ultimate Turret Press takes all the features that made the Classic Turret so practical and popular and adds additional features and technical advancements.

The Ultimate Turret also takes advantage of the large press's strong gears and full-circumference tool head support. The all-round support of the tool head is one of the main points that sets the LEE Turret presses apart from all others. The venting of the punched-out primers through the piston pushes all the dirt out of the massive press body.

For example, new is the ability to easily change the number of positions in the instrument head. Instead of the four-position head typical of the Lee Classic turret press, you can freely exchange tool heads with three, four, five or even six positions. The tool heads are precision-machined and fit precisely into the retaining ring that surrounds the tool head. The retaining ring is designed to allow smooth indexing (rotation of the tool head with dies) and sufficient radial play for perfect alignment of the dies. Each of the die positions is equipped with a Breech Lock quick-change system, which allows easy replacement of the installed dies without the need for re-adjustment. Simply put, if you remove the dies from the tool head, they retain their setting and the next installation is a matter of seconds. However, if you are a fan of replacing the entire tool head, as you did with the Lee Classic Turret, the Lee Ultimate Turret offers that option too. Remove the three locking screws and you can replace the entire tool head with everything you have installed on it. A key for these screws is included with the press.

After each cycle, the press automatically indexes the tool head to the next position. The new indexing system has only one moving part and is equipped with overload protection, making it nearly indestructible. Should the indexing system become damaged, simply replace the drive clutch in seconds and you can continue reloading. Final and precise alignment of the tool head is done via a mandrel attached to the piston.

All dies are securely fastened in the tool head with Lee Smart Lock Bushings.

Ultimate Turret has now also introduced an automatic finished cartridge ejector that removes the cartridge from the cartridge holder and ejects it into the finished cartridge container when the reloading cycle is complete. There is no adjustment required and the ejector is virtually indestructible.

A large press with all-steel gears, as found on presses for reloading .50 BMG, provides sufficient power for reloading even large calibers and enough space under the tool head for even the longest magnum calibers.
